Kashnee Sewnarain holds in excess of 17 years of professional experience in public sector financial management, and has been actively involved in mSCOA implementation since the 2015/16 financial year. She is currently the Founding Director of Inspired Financial Management Solutions, which focuses on training, preparation of budgets and financial statements as well as public sector consulting in the country. She is passionate about practical skills development in the public sector, and her training approach is delivered in a practical manner to delegates to enable them to apply the day-to-day operational duties to the mSCOA and GRAP requirements. A previous Director: Financial Reporting at KZN Provincial Treasury, she holds a proven track record of managing various financial management support programs to the public sector, including the mSCOA Project Lead for mSCOA implementation for the Province. This included providing guidance and support, including the rollout and development of training material for first time implementation of mSCOA. Her role included active participation at a National level in mSCOA Technical Committees, GRAP Public Sector Accounting Forums and led various training and capacity building initiatives within the Province. During her tenure at KZN Provincial Treasury she was also responsible for providing support to address prior year qualification and disclaimer matters and holds a proven track record of success in this regard. She further holds a comprehensive understanding of the latest technical GRAP accounting standards, and has developed various training materials, incorporating both GRAP and mSCOA, to enable practical application to day to day transacting. Additionally, she has extensive knowledge of financial system requirements for mSCOA implementation, and has experience with various financial systems including SAMRAS and MUNSOFT in this regard. Her foundational expertise and experience within local and provincial government includes, but is not limited to, internal and external auditing, preparation of annual financial statements, asset management, standard chart of accounts implementation, budget preparation and monitoring, cash flow management, and compliance with financial legislation within the public sector.
